FROM SPOT THE DIFFERENCE TO SEE THE DIFFERENCE
Check revisions, review a draft, or catch a tiny change. This free online diff checker makes comparing text straightforward.
Add the original text on the left and the updated version on the right.
Compare words, characters, or lines. Ignore case or whitespace when those changes don’t matter.
Removed text is marked in red; additions are marked in green. Review both versions side by side or in one view.
SMALL EDITS. BIG DIFFERENCE.
See what changed between drafts of an article, email, or website copy without rereading every sentence.
Compare code snippets, configuration text, or notes. Character mode helps reveal small punctuation changes.
Comparison happens on your device. Pasted text is not uploaded or saved by this tool, and disappears when you reload.
GOOD TO KNOW
A text diff checker compares two versions of text and highlights additions and deletions. A replacement appears as removed text in the original and added text in the changed version, so you can review edits without checking each version manually.
Paste your original text into the first box and the revised text into the second, then select Compare text. Choose word, character, or line comparison, and switch between side-by-side and unified results.
No. The comparison runs in your browser. Diffscope does not send pasted text to a server or save it in browser storage. Reloading or closing this page clears the text from the tool.
Ignore case treats uppercase and lowercase letters as equal, so “Hello” and “hello” match. Ignore whitespace disregards spaces, tabs, and line breaks when matching. Your original text remains visible in the side-by-side results.
You can paste code or text copied from a document. Diffscope compares plain text, including punctuation and line breaks. It does not compare fonts, document formatting, images, or the meaning of code.
You can compare up to 100,000 characters in each box. For very large or heavily changed passages, the tool may highlight a whole section instead of finding every individual edit. It will tell you when this happens.
